Significance of Lord KUBERA and performing lord KUBERA pooja

Significance of Lord KUBERA and performing lord KUBERA pooja

Kubera (also Kuvera or Kuber) is the king of the Yakshas and the lord of wealth in Hindu mythology. He is also known as Dhanapati, the lord of riches. He is one of the Guardians of the directions, representing the Uttara-disha( meaning north of 4 directions in Sanskrit.)
Kubera is also the son of Sage Vishrava (hence he is also called Vaisravana) and in this respect, he is also the elder brother of the Lord of Lanka, Ravana. He is said to have performed austerities for thousand years, in reward for which Brahma, the Creator, gave him immortality and made him god of wealth, guardian of all the treasures of the earth, the nidhi which he was to give out to whom they were destined.
When Brahma appointed him God of Riches, he gave him Lanka (Ceylon) as his capital, presented him with the vehicle pushpaka(according to the Ramayana), which was of immense size and ‘moved at the owner’s will at marvellous speed’. When Ravana captured Lanka, Kubera moved to his city of Alaka, and established his Yaksha Kingdom there.
Worship Of Lord Kubera :
Kubera's house was believed to be the abode of Adilakshmi, the goddess of wealth who, pleased by his devotion, gave him immense wealth making him nideesha or the keeper of riches. Kubera also credited money to Vishnu for his marriage with Padmavati[3]. In remembrance of this, the reason devotees going to Tirupati donate money in Venkateshwara's Hundi so that he can pay back to Kubera. According to the Vishnupuran this process will go on till the end of Kali yuga.
Those who worship Lord Kubera will get His blessings, He also stablises to be with every individual with good strength, better business sufficient inflow of money, education, industiral growth etc. Auspious date to worship Lord Kubera is between Oct 15th Nov. 15 (Tamil Month Iyppasi). Thursday is the most auspicious day with star Pusa. He faces Northern direction.
Kubera is also worshipped by the Buddhists, where he is looked upon as the guardian of the North. His characteristic symbol is the mongoose, often shown vomiting jewels. In the Buddhist pantheon he is also known as Jambhala, probably from the jambhara (lemon) he carries in his hand. He is always represented corpulent and covered with jewels. His right foot is generally pendant and supported by a lotus-flower on which is a conch shell.

Manipulations and not correction by Government

1. The chief economic Advisor Basu has stated that moderate debt crisis in Europe may actually help India a little, as capital will flow in India ,being a safer heaven.
It is good that he finally saw the point and stated so.I have been arguing same since a fortnight.Logic says investment should move from unsafe makets to safer markets. So why Indian investors are panicking?
We should, capitalise on this and sell Indian market features globally. We should keep markets steady like Israel,Srilankas and Mexico.

But our PM,Finance Minister and so on never bothered to make any statement at all to put the nerves at ease of capital market investors and operators last week.A strong reassuring statement would have sure contained the slippage.Even now nothing has come out and stock markets may take a further beating in coming week and this may result into serious avalanche.Common people may loose thousands of crores.
It is highly irresponsible behaviour of our government. We have hardly any financial linkages with Greece, Portugal or Spain.

2. The FIIs role has to be investigated as almost 50% of them come from a non significant country like Mauritius.Who are these guys?It is strange. It shows India has some dubious channels open vis a vis Mauritius and its tax laws and banking system.
The FIIs- like rats, ran away from Indian markets withdrawing as much as Rs 4800 Crores last week creating panic. They panicked or created panic to re-enter at lower levels using Greece crisis as an excuse- is a big question?
GOI should, restrict outflow of such money for time being till situation improves.FIIs have proven that they have no loyalty or concern with Indian markets. Why should we bother for them ?

3. I reject Basu's observation that Indian financial markets are now globalised and will have to take beating along with major markets. It may serve his self illusions and ego satisfaction but it is not true. Our investments in capital markets in India and globally is just peanuts.
Instead of singing blindly globalisation songs, Basu should design a system that effectively insulates country from shocks. We should not encourage FIIs,MNCs too much. They come for greed not for charity to us.

4. Now GOI has designed a new conspiracy to mitigate inflation figures.Their intentions are so open and arrogant but people of India specially those who praise Man Mohan and his cabinet and congress by default refuse to see the light.
The base year is being now changed to 2004-2005 thus removing very sharp price rise in years 2002 to 2004 ( 3 years period)in various goods and the property.
The basket is also being expanded to include electronic goods and other items thus modifying the formula to reduce inflation effect artificially.

It is matter of regret that instead of honestly trying to reverse situation Man Mohan government is playing over clever and trying to hide inflation by jugglery.
Where is the need to change base at this moment. We have already a revised 19993-1994 base.
It clearly shows that politicians in power do not want seriously to take any measures to reduce inflation in country and initiate conservation of money measures but wants to mislead people by changing base year and bringing in low inflation products like telecom and electronics.

5. India should learn lessons from Greece and some other countries who are out on extravaganza and too rapid attempt for expansion in name of reforms.Greece was the one to start it.India is now doing same.I dont know why MM Co are in a hurry to grow. Who gave them this directive? Is it a joke to have 10% GDP growth rate year after year in a resource starved country like India with 50% poor and low per capita.
So what is happening ? prices have gone up many times eroding our global competiveness and purchasing power domstically. Result is a big zero. The common man is at the same place .Beyond any purchasing power, as he was in year 2000 .
Besides reckless taxation and now a Direct Tax Code to tax citizens more and more like EET, this spend thrift and wasteful government of congress is set to create havoc in country in a few years' time and agricultural and legal reforms have been totally ignored. Is it by chance or design that frequently imports are opened for various commodities instead of growing them in country? National security is not only to have wheat and rice.We need many basic commodities for self reliance. We need cattlefeed and land for it.

6. Important national assets of mineral wealth have been doled out to prive sector companies like Reliance and others. While some companies like CAIRN India have done good work in Rajasthan deserts to source oil, our domestic firms have a poorer record. This is not privatisation. What right Mukesh Ambani's family had to sell gas at cheaper prices to ADAG of his brother? The intervention of Supreme court was necessary and just. But at the same time GOI should ensure that lacs of investors of ADAG are not doomed and power projects do come up in the country. After all gas is to be utilised too.We need electricity expansion badly. Here mediatory role, and a fast one, of GOI is very important.
The issue is -at what prices natural products should be sold to strike a balance between next 30-40 years availability, consumption targets, cost of production and cost of end products like power generation or auto fuels. The impact on India's carbon foot print and environment degradation should also be kept in mind.reckless expansion od Auto sector should be contianed.

It is seen that in India public opinion is very weak and in typical 'why should I bother attitude' of even best educated and aware citizens is emboldening politicians and babus to take society for a ride and exploitation. Are we really liberated from British mindset and British Colonialism?
Dishonesty ,corruption and manipulations are order of the day.

The truth about crash diets

Sheetal put on weight after childbirth but decided to take drastic measures when her child turned one and a half years old, and she could not carry him for long.
She also began have aches and pains which made her fear for her health. She joined a gym for a while and remembered the dietician advising her to have doodhi juice.

Bits and pieces of that advice and tips collated from magazine and newspapers formulated her diet. She cut out potatoes, rice and fried things.

Sheetal Mukherjee
28, BPO employee
Pre-diet weight: 99 kilos
Post-diet weight: 74 kilos
Time period: Two years

o Diet Plan

Breakfast: Lemon juice without honey or sugar One hour later: White oats cooked in water, no sugar, no milk

One and a half hours later: One carrot or any raw vegetable, followed by Wheatflakes in milk (without sugar)

Two hours later: A bowl of fruit - papaya, watermelon, etc.

Tea-time: Two Marie biscuits or half a chappati with or without tea

Dinner: One cup boiled doodhi with pepper, one glass buttermilk and a half or one chappati Weekend: Replaced cornflakes with a meal- roti-rice-dal/subzi-one buttermilk

Once in two weeks: Maggi noodles

o Nutrition talk

She is on a crash diet of approximately 600 calories. Her diet is low in total calories, protein, iron content and vitamins, especially the fat soluble vitamins such as Vitamin A, D, E and K. This is due to absence of fat in her diet. For iron and fat, she can have leafy vegetables cooked in a bit of oil.

Also, she needs to have one or two chappatis a day. She also needs to introduce Vitamin E via one or two almonds to combat hairloss and dull skin that can be caused by a crash diet.

Sherwin Fernandes

Sherwin decided he had to do something about his weight when he couldn't find 44-inch waist pants.

Besides, he developed a breathing problem and couldn't walk even short distances. He skipped red meat and oily foods - no cheese, butter etc.

Stopped eating in the office canteen and brought homemade dabba. He still has three teas a day, but black - without milk or sugar. When forced to eat at social events, he keeps portions small.

He coupled this diet with a fitness plan - morning walks for half an hour or on the cross trainer and 50 stomach crunches. To formulate his diet, he read up on the net. His waist size is now 36.

Sherwin Fernandes

Neil Soans

Neil had insight into what his body responds best to - high protein and low carbs. His rule of thumb was: A compressed meal should be as big as my fist. He also made sure he never starved, and never slept on an empty stomach.

He worked out three times a week, but never on an empty stomach - if nothing else, he had a banana. Post work-out, he tanked up on protein and fresh fruit juices. His secret weapon was carb cycling: For two months he followed three days of high carb, medium protein meals and three days of no carb, high protein meals.

Neil Soans
29, media-person
Pre-diet weight: 79 kilos
Post-diet weight: 64 kilos
Time period: 1 year

o Diet Plan

Breakfast: Bowl of boiled oatmeal + 1-2 egg whites + two almonds

Lunch: 6-inch sub, with dough scooped out to allow for more greens, brown bread, chicken or tuna, low fat dressing. No mayonnaise or cheese.

Snack: Fruit with half a protein bar, or handful of nuts.

Dinner: Same as lunch with salad. Cheat Meal: Cheesy pizza and dessert once a week. Dark chocolate instead of regular chocolate.

o Nutrition talk

Neil should stick to complex carbohydrates such as whole-wheat bread or chappati and only avoid simple carbohydrates.

His meals should have some vegetable or salad along with the white meat as meat is devoid of fibre, which helps in complete digestion.

A couple of walnuts could be included on the days when there is no fish in the diet to get omega 3 fatty acids.

Simple lifestyle changes can help you live long

Forget crash diets and obsessive calorie counting. A new study shows that it takes only slight changes to your eating habits to improve your long term health.

Cut back on the number of times you shake the salt cellar or grind your salt mill. A healthy adult intake is 6 grams, so even the smallest reduction has an impact on your health.

Research shows that dropping your salt intake by as much as 3 grams a day would be enough to trigger a measurable fall in blood pressure, reducing your risk of stroke by 13 percent and heart disease by 10 percent, reported dailymail.co.uk.

Reduce sugar in your tea or coffee from two teaspoons to one and you could save yourself up to 30 grams of sugar a day. At 15 calories per teaspoon, that's a cut of 32,000 calories a year.

Avoid products with the words 'hydrogenated fat' in the ingredients list - culprits include low-cost cakes, biscuits and pastries.

Studies show that eating even small amounts of trans fats or unsaturated fat increases your risk of heart disease more than consuming any other food.

Instead of filling your plate with carbohydrates (pasta, rice, potato) and meat, first fill half the plate with salad or vegetables, then split the remaining half between carbohydrates and meat. Like this can cut calorie intake by 200 calories.

Peeling the skin off your chicken drumstick before you eat it will immediately cut out 4 grams of fat without any sense of deprivation.

Make the switch from high sugar fizzy drinks (cola contains eight teaspoons of sugar in every can) to water and you will be reducing your sugar intake by 40 grams of sugar every time.

Adding one more serving of vegetables a day may reduce your risk of breast cancer by 21 per cent

Plan your pregnancy through the Vedic way

A decade ago an NRI couple from Canada lost their only child, an eight-year-old daughter due to an incurable genetic disorder. After subsequent medical screening of the couple, doctors strictly advised the mother (who had genetic problems too), not to conceive again to avoid a fatality of her child again.

Ten years later, however, the same couple now has a healthy eight-year-old daughter. "This is a result of an Astro-Ayurvedva-Vedic Karmakanda effort at our hospital to help couples have healthy/ideal progeny via process of Ayojit Garbhadaan (Planned Pregnancy)," says Prof SN Gupta, Medical Superintendent at PN Patel Ayurvedic Hospital at Nadiad, Gujarat.

"And emboldened by the success of the practice which is inherent in Vedic form of living, eight to ten couples (from cross sections of society) are now registering selves annually with the hospital to deliver an out and out healthy progeny through the oriental way," Gupta added. Entire process of planned pregnancy starts with Panchkarma Therapy (to purify the couple of any physical or mental health problems/defects), followed by a strictly followed month long schedule of Bramhacharya (celibacy) during which Rasayan Aushadhies of Ayurveda are administered to them.

It's during the month of strictly followed celibacy that qualified astrologers at Sanskrit Vidya Dharma Vibhag of the parent institute, JS Ayurveda College (Nadiad), on the basis of meticulous planetary calculations fix the dates for a fruitful sexual intercourse between the couple, so as to lead to the best planned pregnancy, said Gupta, a professor at Dept of Kaya Chikitsa in the college. Just after the process of conception is detected by Prasuti Tantra experts (Ayurvedic gyaenecologists), the priests from the Sanskrit section of the college go for necessary rituals and yajnas to ensure a healthy conception.

Even as the rituals and yajnas go on, the experts of Ayurveda ensure a perfectly healthy dietary schedule for the pregnant woman along with necessary herbal medicines during various stages of pregnancy. During the period of pregnancy, while the Vedic Karmakanda specialists perform Punsavan Sanskar (for spiritual awakening of the would be mother) special herbal medicines too are administered to her for a side effect free immune enhancement, which will lead to the birth of a healthy child without any congenital problems, Gupta said.

And the newborn too is welcomed in the world with process of Jata Karma, where Rasayan Aushadhies are delivered to the baby amid chanting of Vedic mantras, followed by Nishkrama Sanskar when the baby is exposed to sunlight for the first time. The entire process of having an ideal/healthy progeny doesn't end with Nishkraman Sanskar, but is capped by Annaprashan, a ceremony where the baby consumes first morsels of staple food amid Vedic rituals to ensure healthy future for the baby, he added.
